Imvusa Transport have set the benchmark with their yearly Food Initiative contribution towards the under privileged. Each year the company takes time out from their consistently superior transport service and visit a school earmarked for people in need.
It all started back in 2005 by Richard and Marlene Clark when they decided to put gift bags together for previously disadvantaged and homeless children as well as the elderly. It went superbly, visiting Middlepos, Fraserburg and Sutherland with a helping hand. The locals received their gifts with fervour and excitement followed by a few tears of joy.
In 2006 Izak Smith sponsored a Mercedes Vito to do the drop offs. It was a smashing success. The gift bags were handed out to children. 2007 was when people took the initiative to other level. Numerous donations were made and vehicles utilized to transport all the gifts. Food was introduced into the initiative which fed Rietbron’s population.
In 2010 it was decided upon to register a non-profit organization called WAWWA (We Are Who We Are) and have given the initiative a proper structure as well as clear goals in mind.
How many companies in South Africa have the option to donate portions of their tax money to non-profit organizations but choose not to? Surely by following Imvusa Transports’ example of giving back to disadvantaged communities, that in doing so collectively, will have a huge permanent positive impact on neighbouring communities.
